Tamworth Borough Council is bringing its annual Christmas Fun Run back to Tamworth Castle Grounds on Sunday 13 December, giving people of all ages the chance to get active, have fun and get into the festive spirit.
The popular event will see participants take on a 5km route around the Castle Grounds, with everyone receiving a Santa hat to help create a sea of red along the route. All participants will also receive a medal for taking part.
Whether you choose to run, walk, skip or dance, everyone is welcome to join in – the emphasis is on having fun and enjoying the festive atmosphere.
This year’s event will support two charities, MIND and Heart of Tamworth, giving participants the opportunity to help raise funds for causes supporting people in the local community.
MIND works to support better mental health and wellbeing, providing information, advice and support to people experiencing mental health problems, as well as campaigning for better mental health services and greater understanding.
Heart of Tamworth is a local charity working to support people in the Tamworth community. Its work helps people facing challenges and provides practical support to those who need it.
The event is also sponsored by Specsavers Tamworth, and Tamworth Borough Council is grateful for their support to help bring the Christmas Fun Run back for another year.
Councillor Lewis Smith, portfolio holder for people services, engagement, leisure and heritage, said: “The Christmas Fun Run is a great way to get into the festive spirit while getting active and having fun with family and friends.
“Whether you are a regular runner or would rather walk or skip your way around the route, everyone is welcome to take part. It’s not about how quickly you complete the 5km, it’s about coming together, enjoying the atmosphere and having some festive fun.
“It’s also great that this year’s event will support two charities, MIND and Heart of Tamworth. By taking part people will be helping to support causes that make a real difference in our community.
“Thank you to Specsavers Tamworth for supporting the event, and I look forward to seeing plenty of Santa hats filling the Castle Grounds this December.”
The run takes place on Sunday 13 December 2026 with an 11am start at Tamworth Castle Grounds.
