Tamworth Borough Council is committed to helping tenants maintain their tenancy and live successfully in their homes. We offer a range of support services to help you settle in, manage your rent, and stay safe and well.
Support Services
We work with local partners to provide help with:
- Money problems, rent arrears, and benefits
- Mental health, physical health, and substance support
- Finding training, education, and employment
- Energy efficiency schemes to reduce bills
We also refer tenants to Tamworth Advice Centre & Tamworth Hub for extra support.
Income Management
Our Income Management Team helps tenants pay rent on time and avoid financial hardship i.e. they can help you apply for housing benefit, set up affordable repayment plans, and maximise your income.
Preventing Evictions
Evictions are a last resort. We work with tenants to resolve issues early. This includes help with rent payments, tackling antisocial behaviour, and safeguarding vulnerable residents.
Settling Into Your Home
We help new tenants by:
- Checking affordability before you move in
- Referring you to support agencies if needed
- Offering benefit checks and help with claims
- Providing a welcome pack and signposting to furniture stores
- Visiting you within 6 weeks to check you're settling in
Maintaining Your Home
Tenants must keep their home in good condition and follow the tenancy agreement. We offer advice and support if you're struggling and take early action to prevent problems.
