Tamworth Borough Council is pleased to announce a series of spooktacular events at Tamworth Castle this October. It’s the perfect time to explore the historic castle and have fun finding out more about the myths and legends of Tamworth’s haunted past.
As night falls, on Friday 31 October and Saturday 1 November, the castle’s shadowy past takes centre stage in a gripping new immersive event, The Witch Trials.
Brave souls are invited to step back in time with a thrilling, new experience. The Witch Trials, taking place on two evenings, is set in the early 1600s, a time of paranoia and persecution.
The event plunges guests into a world where fear rules and trust is scarce. A mysterious woman has been accused of witchcraft and awaits trial in the castle dungeon. As the story unfolds, visitors will encounter townspeople, hear their chilling tales, and witness dramatic scenes that reveal the events leading to her arrest.
Led by the castle’s gate keeper, guests will journey through the atmospheric medieval chambers, watching the drama unfold in each room and even becoming part of the performance themselves. The question remains - is she innocent or guilty? Her fate lies with you.
This unique theatrical experience is presented by Murder by Appointment, the acclaimed company behind previous Tamworth sell-outs including Wandering Spiritsand A Mercian Murder.
Performances take place at Tamworth Castle every 30 minutes from 6pm to 9pm. Each performance lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. Tickets are £17 and must be booked in advance. Please note the event is suitable for ages 16 and over and not accessible for those with mobility issues due to the historic layout of the castle. Flat shoes and warm clothing are strongly recommended.
Unleash your inner artist and step into a world of misty hills, eerie moonlight, and haunted castles on Saturday 25 October from 10.30am – 1.00pm, with a Haunted Castle Watercolour Story and Art Workshop with Maria Credali.
